February is National Heart Health Month, which means it’s time to give some love to one of the hardest working muscles in our body. Fortunately many of the herbs included in our Harmony and Balance Herbal Tea series may benefit your heart.
Our loose leaf herbal teas are developed with experienced herbalists. We carefully select and blend herbs to balance function, flavor, and health benefits.
Teas and herbs are not intended to treat, cure, or prevent illness or disease. While we believe that teas have beneficial healing properties, we are not medical professionals. Please consult your doctor before making any major changes to your lifestyle and/or medication.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon may reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. One study found that people with type 2 diabetes who ingested 1, 3, or 6 g of cinnamon per day “reduced serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol”.
Recommended Cinnamon Herbal Tea: Immune Balance Herbal Tea is a spicy and slightly savory blend including elderflower, astragalus, and echinacea. We pair these herbs with a nutty red rooibos, ginger, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, black pepper, and a hint of vanilla.
Hibiscus
Researchers have been evaluating the effect of hibiscus on managing hypertension. According to the current study results, “consumption of sour tea (Hibiscus sabdariffa) could effectively lower blood pressure in patients with stage 1 hypertension”.
Recommended Hibiscus Herbal Tea: Our Healthy Harmony Herbal Blend Tea pairs the robust flavors of elderberry and ginger with hibiscus, lemonbalm, echinacea, and the mellowing sweetness of licorice root.
Ginger
Conventional medicines used to treat cardiovascular diseases are often associated with side effects, so scientists are searching for more natural remedies. According to one study, “The cardioprotective effects of ginger are contributed to its cardiotonic, anti- hypertensive, anti-hyperlipidemia, and anti-platelet effects.”
Recommended Herbal Ginger Tea: Vital Balance Herbal Tea is a slightly sweet and spicy blend with ginger, a hint of chocolate, and a refreshing herbaceous note on the finish.
Chamomile
Chamomile has been used for medicinal benefits since ancient times, and it’s still popular today due to its various bioactive phytochemicals. One study found “Chamomile can help in improving cardiovascular conditions, stimulate immune system and provide some protection against cancer”.
Recommended Chamomile Herbal Tea: Calming Harmony Herbal Blend Tea has a flavor reminiscent of a lemon dreamscicle. Vanilla and chamomile are featured alongside lemon balm, lemongrass and passionflower.
