Dandelion Tea Could be New Cancer-Fighting Tool

Dandelion Tea could be a powerful new weapon in the fight against cancer. Researchers in Windsor, Ont. have been researching the potential cancer-killing root extract of dandelions with some success. So far, tests have demonstrated its ability to directly target and kill off cancer cells in blood samples from patients with leukemia. The findings are so remarkable that they’ve garnered enough interest and promise to bring the team’s funding from $60,000 to $217,000!

The Canadian research team which includes Dr. Si-yaram Pandey and Dr. Carolina Hamm, is ready to move onto a new phase of testing to expand on their findings and work directly with test patients to see if dandelion tea can consistently deliver effective treatment against not just leukemia, but other forms of cancer as well, including bone cancer, colon cancer and pancreatic cancer.

The research took off when a group of patients whose chemotherapy had stopped working became part of a study group that involved using alternative treatments instead. Some of the patients that took the Dandelion Tea on a consistent basis have gone into remission. Years later, the patients still appear cancer-free which indicates that this could be a significant and lasting type of treatment. Doctors plan to expand upon their findings in upcoming clinical trials.

Dandelion FieldWhat does this mean for the fight against cancer? Well, if successful, it could point the way towards developing treatments that are non-toxic and all natural. Initial tests in mice have shown no side effects and the tea is non-toxic, although it remains to be seen at what levels and in what doses it is tolerable in humans.

Radiation takes a tremendous toll on cancer patients and can leave them in an extremely debilitated and vulnerable state, so the development of alternative treatments is a crucial part of the fight against cancer. Unlike radiation, tests with dandelion root extract have also shown to target cancer cells almost exclusively, leaving healthy cells intact.

Still, there’s a lot of research left to do to figure out how best Dandelion Tea could fit into a patient’s treatment plan. Doctor’s have already advised their patients to avoid mixing treatments without contacting a physician first, since the tea can interfere with other approaches like chemotherapy.
