Color-Changing Layered Lemonade Recipe
The lemon causes a natural chemical reaction that turns Blue Butterfly Herbal purple!

Color-Changing Layered Lemonade Recipe

This unusual lemonade takes advantage of a unique chemical principle in our Thai Blue Butterfly Garden herbal tea, which brews up bright blue.

The acid in the lemonade causes the anthocyanins from the butterfly pea flower to turn pink in higher concentrations and purple in lower concentrations. Isn’t science fun?

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Brew 4-5g of Blue Butterfly Garden in filtered, freshly-boiled water for 5 minutes.
  2. Fill a 20-24oz iced tea glass with ice. Pour sweet lemonade concentrate over the ice.
  3. Carefully pour the 8oz of Blue Butterfly Garden brew over the ice and lemonade concentrate. The sugar content of the lemonade causes it to be heavier and thicker than the blue brew.
  4. Stir the drink a slight once or twice in a circle to thin out the lemonade concentrate slightly and cause the acidic part of the drink to create a nice ombre from the bottom to the top.

It’s so pretty, and your guests will be delighted with the color change as they stir and drink it! You can also serve it with additional textures like boba or chia seeds for an even bigger “wow” factor.
