6 Tips to Host Your Own Virtual Tea Party

One of the fun creative opportunities offered by physical distancing is virtual tea parties. Tea lovers flock together, and hosting a virtual tea party is a great way to share a sip while you connect. Here are some helpful hints to ensure everyone can party on.

1. Make Room for More.

Choose a video conferencing service that allows for multiple participants. Some even allow dozens of connections! Encourage attendees to test their tech beforehand to make sure their setup works. Proper lighting and sound are important to make sure everyone can see and hear each other.

2. Pick a Theme.

What could be more civilized than Afterlife Tea with zombies? Or dress as your favorite tea-loving historical figure. Of course, you can always re-enact the classic Alice in Wonderland, complete with zany decorations and fun tea cups. Some video conferencing services will even allow you to digitally change your background to fit the theme.

3. Prep a Cup for Everyone.

If you’re hosting little ones or people sensitive to caffeine in person, be sure to provide a non-caffeinated herbal or tisane. Kids love eating the rehydrated bits of fruit from our Almond Apple Delight Tisane after it’s infused.

4. Remember the Snacks!

No tea party would be complete without delectable savory and sweet treats. You don’t need to spend hours cutting the crusts off sandwiches. The Tea Smith offers delicious vegan scones and other goodies at our store. Or whip up some of our recipes that use tea.

5. Incorporate a Surprise Guest.

For folks who aren’t too tech-savvy, install the video conferencing software on an iPad or old phone with WiFi capabilities and ship it to them before the party. Our furry friends probably shouldn’t drink tea, but there’s nothing to prevent them from lapping a cup full of sodium-free tuna juice or chicken broth at the table.

6. Toast with Tea.

If you’re sipping with adults, you may want to make tea-infused alcoholic drinks. Use any of these three methods to infuse tea into cocktails or mocktails.
