Find out more about these functional herbal blends below:
Healthy Harmony is an “immune-boosting” functional herbal blend full of great kitchen medicine utilized by our great-grandmothers’ generation. It has echinacea, lemon balm, elderberry, licorice root, and ginger and it tastes great! Elderberry and echinacea have been touted for their immune boosting effects, while lemon balm is traditionally used for its antiviral properties. Licorice root, while being a natural sweetener, is also used to calm a sore throat. And ginger is warming and used to induce sweating during a fever, amongst a litany of other things.
Restoring Harmony is a mild detox blend with dandelion root, and nettle which have detoxifying properties. It also has calendula which is used for a variety of reasons but also has some detoxifying properties for the lymphatic system. There’s also licorice root and peppermint which have properties to support the GI system. All of these are laid over organic green South African rooibos, which is touted to have a higher concentration of antioxidants than the oxidized red rooibos, with a hint of lavender to complement the herbaceous and floral notes of the flavor for a rounded and pleasant cup.
Calming Harmony is a great blend for difficulties sleeping and gently encourages good sleep habits with a combination of organic chamomile, organic lemonbalm, and organic passionflower, rather than the commonly used valerian root. Chamomile is used for its calming properties as well as mild pain relief by herbalists. Lemonbalm is used for its antiviral properties, as well as its soothing nervine properties. Passionflower is utilized traditionally for its calming effect on a racing mind. We like how gentle and soothing Calming Harmony is as a whole, and we really love the flavor combination of vanilla with lemon.
Vital Balance is our women’s cycle relief and menopause health blend. It features adaptogenic vitex and nutritious oatstraw with raspberry leaf, a known uterine tonic, and detoxifying nettle. Ginger adds spice and warmth, while chamomile is used traditionally for soothing and mild pain-relieving properties. This herbal flavorscape is set over a chocolate-flavored organic rooibos with organic cacao nibs. This makes for a complex, slightly spicy, and slightly sweet, but tasty cup.
Enlightened Balance is our awareness blend that has a little bit of balancing and stimulating properties from adaptogenic herbs, without any caffeine. It features gotu kola, which is traditionally used in cases of mental and physical fatigue, skullcap, which is used by herbalists in cases of oversensitivity and overstimulation, and rhodiola, which was used by Vikings for stamina and energy! This blend is bright and citrusy with a floral and slightly smoky note. It is herbaceous and deliciously complex as well.
Immune Balance is an alternative immune-boosting blend to our Healthy Harmony. This blend features ayurvedic spices great for digestion and for warmth, along with elderflower, astragalus, and echinacea. Elderflower has more of a savory quality that pairs well with the cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, clove, and ginger. We utilized the immune-boosting properties of echinacea and astragalus to help out the elderflower in this blend. It is warm and spicy, and a little bit sweet from the astragalus and cinnamon
Please note: The Tea Smith works with local clinical herbalists to come up with some great blends that we are proud of. We encourage our customers to know their allergies, and if they are taking prescription medications, to know what their medical professional recommends against.
