7 Ways to Celebrate National Hot Tea Month

How have you been celebrating National Hot Tea Month? Of course, the idea that you would only celebrate hot tea for thirty-one days in January is pretty silly to us, but any chance we get to indulge a little bit more in one of our favorite beverages is a chance we’ll gladly take. If that’s a sentiment you agree with, then read on!

There’s just a week left of National Hot Tea Month, so we’ve compiled a list of seven things to do to celebrate–one for each remaining day. Feeling ambitious? Try to complete them all before January ends.

1. DIY Tea Towels

So you’ve set up a lovely spread for high- or low-tea, but one thing is missing, some DIY Tea Towels. If you’re getting stir crazy during the wintry months, this is a project that’s easy enough to succeed at, but challenging enough to keep you engaged. With just a few simple materials, you can add a personalized touch to tea time.

2. Read Up On Tea

Feeling studious? If you’re a book nerd and aspiring tea geek, we have two indispensable volumes for your library. The New Tea Companion is a great way to steep yourself in everything tea related. Sip along as you learn about the culture, history and manufacturing of tea. Meanwhile, Tea Here Now teaches you about tea as more than just a drink, emphasizing everyday mindfulness as part of a “tea lifestyle.”

3. Get Adventurous

Think you’ve tried everything under the sun when it comes to tea? Think again! For the those willing to venture off the beaten path into unknown territory, our Expedition Series holds some exciting gems you might not be familiar with.

4. Cheat

It’s technically National HOT Tea Month, but something tells us you’re feeling a bit rebellious. Why not brew up a pitcher of ice cold tea instead? Here’s one way to get there faster: our Flash Chill Iced Tea Pitcher. It’s so great that Teresa from Omaha, NE gave it a 10 out of 5 in her review!

5. Try a Different Tea Smith Location

If you’re lucky enough to be in the area and enjoy everything the Tea Smith has to offer in person, don’t get stuck at one location. We have two different stores to explore. Get to know both of them this month!

6. Compost

Those poor house plants of yours have definitely seen better days. Don’t worry, we’re not going to get on your case for being the neglectful parent of a few forgotten ficuses. Those old plants may have a bit of life in them yet. By using the dregs of your loose leaf tea, you might just be able to create the perfect compost to bring them back to life.

7. Host a Tea Party

You know you’ve always wanted to, and now is your chance! Debut your new teaware, make some tea sandwiches, put on Downton Abbey, or just put on a pot of your favorite blend and have your friends over. The only thing better that makes tea better is great company!
